ASSEMBLY magazine has been following autonomous and electric mobility trends for more than 10 years. We’ve published a variety of articles on the topic. Now, because of growing interest in prototyping, assembling and mass-producing next-generation vehicles, we are launching Autonomous and Electric Mobility as a quarterly supplement.
We’ll be focusing on the tools, techniques, processes and strategies you need to design, build and test any type of vehicle that rolls, floats or flies. We will be covering everything from batteries and wiring harnesses to components, subassemblies and finished vehicles.
In addition, we are publishing a companion e-newsletter to keep you up-to-date on the exciting, fast-changing world of autonomous and electric vehicles.
There’s a lot to look forward to in 2021, and we plan to be along for the ride. As life begins to return to “normal” in the months ahead and the year unfolds, we’ll be following many newsworthy events.
New vehicles rolling off assembly lines will range from the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV to the GMC Hummer EV pickup truck. Speaking of pickups, we also expect to see production ramping up for much-anticipated vehicles such as the Rivian R1T and the Tesla Cybertruck.
Other things to keep us on our toes this year will include the transatlantic crossing of an autonomous Mayflower ship and an autonomous car race at the home of the Indy 500. Meanwhile, in the air, Rolls-Royce’s Spirit of Innovation will attempt to set a world-speed record for an electric-powered aircraft.
Please let us know if you have any ideas or suggestions on how we can improve our coverage of autonomous and electric mobility. We welcome your feedback.
