Press Crimps Heavy-Gauge Loose Contacts

The CT 65 hydraulic crimping machine is designed for loose-piece, heavy-gauge crimping applications. Its parallel crimping action delivers up to 150 kilonewtons of force for open barrel, closed barrel and heavy duty, four-indent crimping applications. The quality of the crimp is guaranteed by a full-cycle mechanism that assures that the dies have closed completely before they are reopened. The ergonomic 15-degree tilt of the machine provides an optimal viewing angle, and an LED light enhances visibility of the crimping area.

The press features three programmable crimping profiles and memory for up to 30 different jobs. Open and close positions can be programmed to minimize processing time and maximize quality. The interface can be locked with a key switch for quality assurance.

A quick-change system allows for fast changeover times between a variety of optional die adapters. The press is simple to set up, program and operate. A wide range of crimping dies can be used by choosing the corresponding die adapter. The machine can process wire cross-sections as thick is 300 square millimeters.

Semiautomatic Benchtop Crimpers

The Delta 220, 240 and 260 semiautomatic crimping machines replace the previous bt712, 722 and 752 models. The machines are ideal for small batch sizes, special orders, multiconductor cables and preprocessed wires that are not suitable for an automatic wire feed. All models have integrated crimp force monitoring. The 220 and 240 models can be equipped with a programmable cutting head for stripping and crimping. The 260 also features automatic seal insertion.

The presses are equipped with the new TCI 2 operator interface with capacitive touch screen in wide VGA format. The interface can store up to 5,000 wire processing programs. A context-sensitive help function is also included. The operator can now call up help text on the touch screen for a particular topic without having to reach for the operating instructions.

Another advantage is the fixed process position: Individual insertion of the wires from a bundle is particularly fast, because the grippers remain horizontally in place. The operator does not have to let go of the wires during the process.

The presses can be equipped with a MIKO interface (Manufacturing Interface Komax) so that machine data can be exchanged with a control system, such as Komax MES. This interface is also used by the central QCenter measuring station, where several crimping machines share a set of measuring devices.

Crimping Press for High-Voltage Connectors

The EPS 15000 is a high-performance eccentric press for crimping high-voltage connectors for electric vehicle applications. An operator inserts preassembled components into the machine, and the crimping process starts automatically. The robust machine produces durable, reproducible crimped connections.

Optical control functions check the completeness of the components inserted in the sliding table. Crimp force monitoring reliably detects faulty crimps. A special sliding table is designed for crimping the H- and Y-connectors of the HPS40 high-voltage system. Only wear parts need to be changed. The ideal speed for the crimping process can be adjusted.

The touch screen control has an intuitive user interface for easy and safe operation of the crimping press in various languages. Managers can set different user roles and operating modes.

Operator safety is ensured by a monitored safety device. Removal of protective covers interrupts the electrical safety circuit, and the machine is stopped. For safe test operation after changeover or maintenance, the machine is equipped with a hand wheel.

Benchtop Crimper for Thick Cables

The HF-20 and HV-20 benchtop crimping presses can produce 178 kilonewtons of force to terminate cables as large as AWG 4/0. They have a modular die platform that allows engineers to use a variety of unique die sets in holders that can be installed into either press. Equipped with sophisticated controls, a traceability system, and Ethernet and USB ports, the terminators are Industry 4.0 ready. The touch screen interface stores 1,500 different profiles. Modular die platform allows for a variety of die sets. An integrated vacuum system keeps sensitive connections clean and clear of debris commonly associated with high voltage cable crimping.

Mobile Wire Processing Center

The Wire Processing Center is an integrated mobile workstation for producing wires for switch cabinets. The center handles wires with cross-sections from 0.5 to 2.5 square millimeters. The center loads a CAE file from EPLAN or other software and then produces all wires on the list step by step. For each item on the list, the wire is cut to length, the corresponding labels are printed, and the correct ferrule is crimped with the wire with the UNIC-GV universal crimping machines. The center’s thermal transfer printer is suitable for all markers and labels of the MultiMark family, as well as for continuous material, fabric, and polyester labels, heat-shrink tubing or PLC labels. Each step is carried out manually, which allows the operator to route and connect the wires for the complete cabinet job wire by wire.
