Zimmer Group- PIONEER OF DIGITALIZATION

The Zimmer Group anticipated the digital awakening in the industry at an early stage and therefore consistently pushed ahead with the development of a mechatronic component platform. In 2013, the portfolio of mechatronic components was introduced with a bang. Since then, work has continued successively on the success story, a proprietary control platform has been developed, which was then integrated into the company’s own portfolio and supplemented with the current “Digital Services”.

Digital Services

With their additional range of functions, the digital software modules “digitalZ” extend the primary functionalities of the mechatronic components and systems of the Zimmer Group. They target different phases in the product lifecycle of your plant. From project planning and development to operation and service, these modules support the function of the plant and make it even more ergonomic, flexible, productive and reliable. The digital twin “virtualZ” revolutionizes processes along the entire value chain. As a virtual image of the product, production or performance, it enables seamless linking of the individual process steps. This increases efficiency across the board, minimizes error rates, shortens development cycles and also opens up new business models. “virtualZ” offers complete options for real-time simulation as software-in-the-loop or as hardware-in-the-loop. In the past year, “virtualZ” has enabled numerous customers from our systems engineering and mechanical engineering divisions to achieve pinpoint planning and cost estimates from design integration to project implementation in the shortest possible time. With “virtualZ”, it is also possible to work with extremely tight time frames, since all project phases can be continuously simulated and optimized realistically in advance.
